Colonel Norman Vaughn normally had a machine just ahead of him to help watch for trail hazards, and a machine behind him, in case something happened. All the others in the Serum run would be anywhere up to a couple hours ahead or behind on the trail. When one of the machines broke down, I happened along and got to ride just ahead of Norman for a couple of days.
