Interior Alaska Cabin

Interior Alaska Cabin

This cabin is located at a homestead on the Alaska-Yukon border, on the 'Top of the World Highway', which runs from Dawson City over into Alaska. A primitive store is here as well replacing this original building which is left as a museum piece of history. It is typical of most all earlier homes in the Interior 'Bush', many of which still stand and some still being used. The roof is sod. We lived in one identical to this when we lived at Old Crow. It had a hole dug down into the permafrost for a freezer.
