In mid May we made a trip to our son Reuben's college graduation at Hobe Sound Bible College in Florida. All the traveling this year made up for many years when we didn't go anywhere. On our way, we stopped in Alberta where our son Joshua lives and works as a 'Cowboy'. Joshua ropes calves and is invited to a lot of brandings. We helped out at this one. The horse drags the calf in, we take it off the rope and hold it down while it is cut, branded, and vaccinated.

Reuben poses with a friend from Papua New Guinea. Reuben was valedictorian and student body president. We have more pictures of Reuben's graduation on our new family page. Here we are making home made ice cream. We invited this family over to help out.

The day before we left in May, the ice began to break up in the river. This boat had been left on the shore last fall, and was carried far out into the river. I took a canoe and slid it over the ice and tied several long ropes on the boat, then winched it to the shore. This picture is taken at full zoom, so you can't tell I'm far out in the river. Now we have a boat we can use, but we don't have a motor for it. This shows how we set nets under the ice on the river. I'm helping Stanley here. He has a dog team and has to fish for dog food. Dog food is too expensive to buy here with shipping at $1.80 a pound.

At the end of April, our family made a snowmobile trip down river to Bluefish river. We visited three cabins along the way. This is Donald's cabin less than 20 air miles from the Alaska border. Here David is posing with the kids enjoying the fine spring day.
