News Update From Ft. McPherson - September 23rd, 2001

Every day we have a lot of visitors come to our house. The two pictures below were both taken last evening. Karen had kind of a combination open house-birthday party, and we had a lot of young people. We are moved into the little log house we showed in last weeks update. This past week we made a trip to Inuvik, which is the end of the road. It involves another ferry crossing, and takes about 3 hours to get there from here. It is much different living here than our experience at Old Crow. Life seems much more simple at Old Crow, since there are no roads there seems to be far less options to life. You couldn't take much in, and there wasn't anywhere to go except by boat or snow machine, unless you flew out. So we are making an adjustment here which is quite new to us. We are getting to know many of these young people quite well already.
