This is our Sunday School class today. We are in breakup time, which is when the snow is melting and the ground thawing out. Our driveway is practically impassable, so most people didn't try to drive in. They dropped their kids off to walk in through the mud.
This is our herd of milk goats, and notice we had a fresh snow today. We milk them for our own use. Goat milk is a wonderful health food that most North Americans don't know about. While cows milk has an acid base, goats milk is alkaline and neutralizes acid. Goats are browsers and eat all kinds of herbs and weeds, and all the neutrients go right into the milk. I'm sure it has been a big factor in keeping us going. The llama is a guard sentinel and protects the goats from packs of wild dogs, coyotes, etc. Before we got the llama we would lose about half of the goats every year to these predators. Last week a pack of vicious, wild dogs attacked the herd right where this picture is. The llama held them off while the goats retreated in the barn, and I was able to shoot 5 of them before they hurt any of the goats. If I had not been there, we would probably have lost all of the goats.
