Ferry Crossing the Peel River

Peel River Ferry Crossing

Eight miles from Ft. McPherson you have to cross the Peel River on a ferry boat. It holds about six vehicles at the same time. Here the ferry is approaching the shore. In the fall the ferry is taken out while the river freezes, and when the ice is thick enough the traffic crosses on the ice until spring breakup when the ferry goes back into service.
