Native Fishwheel on the Yukon River
One of the great classic inventions of mankind. The current turns it, the basket
scoops up the large king salmon, and they slide down a chute into the holding pen
on the side. This one is a real beauty. The salmon run was just starting when I was
there. These salmon make their way all the way up into the creeks where we started
our raft trip, where they spawn. The local people were giving Dick & Mary salmon,
which I got to eat while I was there.
