Explosion

Sunday Evening February 7th. Just after 6:00 a tremendous explosion with a huge fireball took place near here. We thought it was a gas well blow out. They are drilling several wells close by, and they have had evacuation plans for this area in the event a well blew. The well close to us has a record level of poisonous H2S gas, and is very dangerous. An evacuation was begun, and then cancelled because we got a report that it was a compressor station that blew up, which meant they could just shut down the pipeline. I e-mailed these pictures into the Calgary Herald, and they used the third one on the front page of the the Calgary Herald and the Edmonton Journal, plus a feature article inside the Journal using another one of the pictures. Monday was a day that reminded us of the days when Jesse was missing, with live radio interviews, and reporters calling all day.
