Dear Friends,
When our June update ended, Karen was in Old Crow, Yukon holding summer Vacation Bible School. Karen left here with a local lady and they met a Christian lady on the flight from Whitehorse who volunteered to help them, so they landed with a team of three and were assisted by locals from Old Crow. I left for the States to get a knee replacement operation before Karen got back. We had several local volunteers stay at the mission during the first week before Karen got home. I forgot to get pictures of them. When Karen got back, July was packed full with VBS's, youth groups, and our regular services and Sunday School, all of which she had full responsibility. I had my knee operation on July 5th in Morgantown, West Virginia, which is my home area. I lived for 10 weeks in the parsonage of the Mt. Top Holiness Church. Our son Reuben pastored this church for 13 years, and had recently moved, leaving the parsonage empty. It was a special blessing for the church to allow me to stay in the parsonage, and I want to send a special "Thank You" to them. Right after my operation I had a rehab therapy program three times a week which was donated to me by the rehab facility. I also want to send a special thanks to 'Rehab 1st' for their generosity. The pictures below start out with the Old Crow VBS in the Yukon.
Karen and Darcia met Andrea on the flight into Old Crow and she volunteered to stay and help with the VBS.
Below is a local Old Crow child showing her Christian Armour craft.
Here's two more students showing their craft projects.
Karen teaching a lesson with her lesson props on the floor.
Another Old Crow youngster with his craft. The crafts are a big part of the workload, but essential part of every VBS.
There was still snow on top of the mountain at Old Crow at the end of June. The ladies are having snowball toss.
Another example of a craft the kids made.
In June a large team of Koreans came from Calgary to hold a Youth meeting and prepare for the July VBS.
This is a Sunday School class at the mission when Karen had helpers from the Caroline, Alberta Nazarene Church.
The Korean VBS team is preparing for VBS and decided to repaint the Coyote Creek Chapel sign.
The O'Chiese Reserve VBS was staffed by the Korean churches from Calgary and was held in old school gymnasium on the Reserve.
This lady has attended our chapel for several years. When her husband died this month, she wasn't able to attend his funeral, so here Karen is taking her to his grave.
This young lady had supper with Karen before the weekly ladies meeting. She is the Grandaughter of long time friends of ours from the Big Horn Reserve.
